BFT Gate Parts & Welding in Fort Lauderdale: What to Know First

BFT gate parts and welding work in Fort Lauderdale typically runs $225 to $1,400 depending on whether we’re replacing a hinge, rebuilding a post, or repairing a cracked rail. We stock common BFT components locally and most parts jobs are done in one visit. If we need to order a series-specific board or motor, count on two to four business days.

This page is for BFT owners whose gate works but doesn’t work right: sagging leaves, seized hinges, cracked welds, rollers that grind, latches that stopped catching. You already know the motor side is fine. The metal and mechanical side is what’s failing. We fix that, and we document every measurement and part number before we leave. Call (754) 399-1474 and a live person picks up.

How BFT Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • BFT Deimos BT and Phobos models: hinge weld fatigue at the leaf edge. These swing operators put steady torque on the gate leaf every cycle. On older Fort Lauderdale installs, we see the factory hinge welds crack at the leaf edge, usually starting as a hairline you can’t see until the gate starts dragging. We grind back to clean metal, reweld, and add a gusset plate so the stress isn’t concentrated on the same weld line again.
  • BFT Rigel 5 and Rigel 6 slide gates: roller bracket bolts wallowing out the post holes. The Rigel line runs a chain-driven slide, and if the rollers were ever out of alignment, the repeated vibration opens up the bolt holes in the mounting post. The gate then shifts and the chain tension changes. We pull the old bracket, weld a doubler plate over the damaged area, redrill to spec, and reset the roller height so it runs square.
  • BFT Thalia and Virgo light residential arms: latch strike plate misalignment after wind events. Fort Lauderdale afternoon thunderstorms shove lighter BFT swing gates just enough to move the strike plate a quarter inch. Then the electric lock doesn’t fully engage and the motor controls fault repeatedly. We realign or replacement-weld the strike, then recalibrate the leaf stop so the wind can’t push it past the sensor again.
  • BFT Ares and Aries 12V solar models: post base corrosion at grade level. These are popular on rural and estate lots around Fort Lauderdale’s western edges, and the gate posts take standing water during wet season. The base steel rots from the inside where you can’t see it. We cut the post above the corrosion line, sleeve-weld a new section, and coat the interior with a weld-through inhibitor before closing it. That’s a repair BFT’s own documentation won’t tell you exists.
  • BFT IGEA and older Icaro underground operators: housing crack hairline turns into seized pinion. If water gets into an underground BFT housing, the pinion shaft develops surface rust. That rust is enough to crack the housing around the bearing seat when thermal expansion hits. We weld-repair the housing crack only when the bearing seat is intact; otherwise, we source a reconditioned housing and rebuild the assembly with a new seal. On these, the welding has to be done before the parts swap or everything fails again in six months.

Our BFT Gate Parts & Welding Process

Our BFT Gate Parts & Welding Process
  1. 1
You call, we answer. A live person takes the address and the BFT model name from the motor tag. You don’t wait for a callback.
  2. 2
Our technician arrives, photographs the gate from both sides, and measures every gap, hinge clearance, and weld line before touching anything.
  3. 3
We diagnose against BFT installation specs. If a fail is specific to a series, we know it. Then we name the fix in writing: the part, the price, the time estimate. You approve it before we touch a grinder or strike an arc.
  4. 4
Parts decision, jointly: OEM BFT components when the fit or warranty calls for it; quality aftermarket steel or hardware when it’s honestly just as good and arrives sooner. We tell you which and why.
  5. 5
Welding and mechanical repair with clean prep, correct heat, and field painting or cold-galv treatment where the work is exposed. We don’t leave bare welds to rust.
  6. 6
Test cycle under load, photograph the finished work and every setting, then hand you a written record of what was found, what was set, and what was installed. That’s every job, no exceptions.

What BFT Gate Parts & Welding Costs in Fort Lauderdale

The price range for BFT-specific welding and parts work in Fort Lauderdale starts around $225 for a hinge replacement on a standard single-leaf gate. Rebuilding a failed post base runs $350 to $750 depending on access and steel section. Rail repair and reweld work is typically $300 to $600. Full gate leaf realignment with new rollers and latch fix lands $500 to $900. If an underground BFT housing needs rebuild, count $1,000 to $1,400 all-in including parts and labor.

What moves the price: whether the post needs full replacement versus sleeve-welding, whether we can work in place or need to lift the leaf off, and whether OEM BFT replacement hardware is required for the model. Every quote is written before work starts. No surprises on the invoice. Call (754) 399-1474 for a free estimate on your BFT gate.

Why Fort Lauderdale Homeowners Call Vance Gate Repair Fort Lauderdale for BFT Work

Why Fort Lauderdale Homeowners Call Vance Gate Repair Fort Lauderdale for BFT Work

Our techs work on BFT every week, and they can diagnose what’s actually failing rather than replacing parts until something holds. We serve as an independent BFT service provider, meaning we’re not steered by a manufacturer’s replacement incentive. If your Deimos hinge can be safely welded and reinforced, we’ll do that before quoting a new leaf.

We also service the other motors already on Fort Lauderdale properties: LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, Ghost Controls, and DoorKing. That matters when a house has a mixed setup. Every job carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair isn’t right, we make it right at no charge within a full year. And the written photo record is part of the job, not a courtesy. Name what you found, name what it costs, name what you left behind.

FAQs

Will welding on my BFT gate void the motor warranty? Welding on the gate leaf, post, or hinge hardware doesn’t affect the BFT motor or control board warranty as long as the electrical components are isolated or removed before any arc work, and we always disconnect and shield electronics as standard practice.

Can you get BFT parts in Fort Lauderdale, or do they ship from Italy? Common BFT wear items like hinges, rollers, latch hardware, and some control components are available locally or within a few days. Rare series-specific boards or underground housings may take longer, but we’ll tell you the real lead time before you commit.

Should I repair or replace my old BFT operator? If the motor runs and the failure is metal or mechanical, repair almost always makes sense. A welded hinge or reinforced post can outlast a brand-new opener. We recommend replacement only when the motor itself has failed or the control board cost exceeds the repair value.

How fast can you get to a BFT welding job in Fort Lauderdale? We schedule most BFT parts and welding calls within one to three business days. If the gate is stuck open and the property is unsecured, tell the dispatcher when you call and we’ll flag the job as urgent.

Do you provide a written record of the work? Yes. Every visit ends with a photographed record of what was found, what was adjusted, and what was replaced, plus a written line-by-line summary of the work. That’s standard on every job, not an add-on.
